From the Start

In the words of Mick and Natalie, a little background to their journey..

Back in the summer of 2014 we became Mr & Mrs Hare and our family life at Roseacre began. We moved into our dream home later that year and over the following years our family of 2 became a family of 4 with the arrival of our daughters Eva & Ellie and finally made complete with our border collie Rosie.
Throughout these years we always talked about setting up and running a business together and the theme always seemed to be based around the hospitality business which we both had a strong passion for. With this in mind we started the ball rolling by looking at potential pubs/bars within the local area that were for sale or lease and for all we could see the potential in some of these we both agreed we maybe needed to consider another option.
This is when Roseacre Retreat first became an idea sketched out on a piece of A4 paper.. 4 glamping pods sharing our amazing views of the Cleveland Hills with the aim of giving people exactly what we would want if we were to stay in one.
Successful planning permission was obtained and in 2020 we ordered our 4 mega pods from Lune Valley Timber Buildings Ltd with a delivery date of August 2021. Groundwork commenced the bases were laid and our pods arrived late August and we spent the remainder of the year connecting the required services and installing paths, patios and fencing before the weather sadly beat us and we couldn’t complete the site to how we wanted it.
After several stressful discussions the decision was made to open our site in January at a discounted rate until the site dried up and we could complete the landscaping. This decision proved to be the right one and over the next 3 months we took approximately 70 bookings and had some amazing feedback and realised hot tubs were regularly enquired about which was something we thought would enhance our site.
We closed the site for 10 days early April 22 and with a lot of hard work and help we managed to complete the landscaping and installed 2 hot tubs on our Rounton and Welbury pods to try and give people what they were asking for.
Nearly a year after we nervously opened our site wondering whether people would come and if they would like what we had to offer we have been blown away by all the lovely comments and feedback we have received it means everything to us.
We endeavour to maintain our high standards and we are constantly looking at new ideas and opportunities to enhance our guests stay at Roseacre Retreat and look forward to welcoming more guests in the future.
